This Dramatic Portrait
In the struggle between spirituality and money, the victory is clear for materialism in Showalter's wonderfully garish true story of the disgraced televangelist and her felon spouse. Garfield portrays the venal Jim, who states early on, “God does not want us to be poor,”. Both individuals commence capitalizing on the people's religious faith. It's a riot of tacky decor, overdone appearance and insincerity, though Chastain achieves to depict the real-life figure in a likable light. Next Tuesday, early morning, Film4
